Hear From Our Clients

I can’t thank Mr. Jack enough for his incredible work. He not only got my case dismissed, but he did so with unwavering compassion and integrity.

From the first consultation to the moment I left the courthouse with a clean slate, Mr. Jack proved to be a man of his word. He achieved in just one week what my previous attorney couldn’t in three months.

While my previous attorney seemed ready to give up on me, Mr. Jack stepped in and gave me hope for a brighter future. If you’re in need of a criminal defense attorney, don’t hesitate to call him. He’s a game-changer.

On this very day today, I am so excited to say that Jack B. Carroll & Associates is a top law firm! Phil worked great with myself, was on top of every situation of my case.

In conjunction with his associate Mr. Jack, my case was DISMISSED!!!! I was charged with burglary of habitation, which in the state of Texas is 2nd degree felony. Court 338 is a very strict judge.

But with the help of Mr. Phil, helped modify my curfew and charges while my case was pending. Phil is a very knowledgeable lawyer, knows every chapter of the law & will advise 24/7. His response is very fast via text or message. I highly recommend!

My husband was charged with a very serious crime and the first lawyer we hired tried to get him to take a plea bargain for prison.

We were referred to Mr. Carroll. He did everything he said he would and we could always talk to him when we called-he never got angry. The case was dismissed right before a jury trial.

My husband would be in prison if we stayed with the first lawyer.

One thing i noticed was the way the judge, lawyers and others treated him, the amount of respect shown made us happy every time we were in court.

FAQ

Do You Charge For Consultations?

No, we don’t charge for initial consultations. Ever since I’ve practiced law, since 1991, I’ve always provided free case evaluations and initial consultations at no cost. As criminal defense lawyers in Houston, we understand the importance of helping people who are at risk of losing their freedom. Even if you don’t decide to hire us for your case, we’ll still give you advice the same as if you were one of our clients. It’s the goal of our law firm to help people, especially those accused of misdemeanor and felony criminal offenses in Houston.

How many cases have you won?

Define “how many” if it includes a guilty verdict after a jury trial and includes beating the states last plea bargain than with that, and all the not guilty (including dozens of expunctions) dismissals; after a trial setting or suppression hearing etc, etc,. I’m one of the few in my profession that can honestly say, MOST.

If a person is convicted of a misdemeanor in Texas, how much time can they get?

It depends on the crime and level of misdemeanor that was applied to their case. If the individual is a habitual criminal offender, it may also play a factor in their penalties. But that’s only if they’re convicted.

To give you an idea of the penalties this person might face, I’ll go over the three misdemeanor classifications in Texas and the corresponding penalties should the court convict the accused party. Class A Misdemeanor: Up to one year Harris County jail time, a fine of up to $4,000.00, or both.

Class B Misdemeanor: Up to 180 days Harris County jail time, a fine of up to $2,000.00, or both. Class C Misdemeanor: Up to a 500.00 fine, no jail sentence.

If you or a loved one are facing misdemeanor criminal charges in Houston, don’t consider paying a fine or doing any amount of days in jail for the sake of convenience. Even minor convictions can come back to haunt you.

How do I find out if I’m eligible to have my criminal records sealed?

The 1st step to sealing criminal records is to obtain an order of non-disclosure from the court. In order to qualify for non-disclosure, you can’t be convicted of the offense and successfully completed your deferred adjudication with the issuing court.

If granted, the general public will not have the ability to see your criminal record but law enforcement will have access to it.

Also, the option may not be available to individuals with crimes related to murder, sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping, assault on a child or disabled person, stalking, guilty of violating a court order in a domestic violence case, and individuals charged with sex crimes and other serious offenses.

Depending on the offense, there may be a waiting period of 2-to-5 years. In almost all misdemeanor cases the waiting period is 2 years.

What should my expectations be when hiring a criminal defense lawyer?

I can’t speak for other attorneys and law firms, but I can tell you what you can expect if you hire Jack B. Carroll & Associates for your criminal defense needs.

When working with me or one of the associate attorneys you can expect excellent communication practices meaning that we’ll respond to your emails and messages in short order if we’re unable to take your phone call. As a law firm, we have a high legal IQ complete with a tradition of winning.
